Strawberries and cream sell like a dream for AvMA
The Wimbledon tournament kicked off today and to celebrate, a team of medical negligence solicitors and support staff at JMW baked, decorated and delivered 115 strawberry teas to raise money for Action Against Medical Accidents (AvMA).
Our kitchen was overflowing with delicious scones, strawberry cupcakes and jam and cream this morning. Many of us had slaved away all weekend to produce the sweet treats but all our hard work paid off and we raised a fantastic £437 for this good cause.
The event was given a vital boost from the Marriott Manchester Victoria and Albert Hotel, which sponsored the jam, and Hailsham barristers' chambers, which sponsored the clotted cream. We are incredibly grateful for the support given to us by these organisations which enabled us to raise such a great amount for this good cause. Other donations included printed stickers for the boxes, which were given to use by Fluid Creative design agency in Bury.
The strawberry teas were served up to our co-workers at their desks and we also raffled off champagne and real ales kindly donated to us by several people including JMW managing partner Bill Jones and the owners of Cambrinus King of Ales.
AvMA is a charity the medical negligence lawyers at JMW has strong ties with and it's crucial that its work for the victims of medical accidents is able to continue well into the future. It offers a vital telephone helpline to provide support and guidance at a time when these people may have suffered devastating injuries and be unsure where to turn.
