Promotion to partner is a massive step for all concerned. It is a big decision both for the partnership and also for the individuals being offered partnership. The number of equity partners and what they bring to a business are fundamental issues and equity should never be offered or taken without careful analysis of the risks and rewards involved for both parties.

Howard Hackney, Howard Hackney LLP

Howard escaped from Grant Thornton UK LLP in 2008 where he had been a partner for over 25 years to establish his own boutique practice. During his time at Grant Thornton he was head of professional practices for the North West and head of family businesses for the UK. Howard's focus is providing "special projects" advice to firms with up to 20 partners. His experience extends from highly profitable sole practitioners to advising 3 of the top 100 law firms. Recent assignments have included sales of law firms, partnership disputes, fund raising, LLP and ltd company conversion, ABS conversions, sales and acquisitions.

Joy Kingsley, Senior Partner, JMW

Joy joined JMW in 2010, in the role of Senior Partner, to assist with the continuing development of JMW.  Her particular areas of expertise are Management and Business Development.  Joy previously presided over the impressive growth of Pannone LLP as Managing Partner and spent two valuable years there as Senior Partner.

Liz Cotton, Partner Employment, JMW 

Liz joined JMW as a Partner in September 2015 and specialises in all areas of employment law and regularly provides advice to clients on severance agreements, discrimination matters, contractual and policy documents, internal disciplinary and grievance hearings, redundancies and TUPE transfers. She has significant experience in the hospitality, retail, pharmaceutical, environmental and sporting sectors.

Mike Blood, Partner Head of Corporate, JMW

Mike joined JMW in May 2015 and heads up the Corporate department.  Mike advises clients from PLCs, owner managed businesses and start-ups in all corporate transactions, financing, members agreements and structuring. He also has specialist knowledge and expertise in advising a range of clients in the sporting, media and digital sectors.
