Motoring Offences

In this day and age we recognise the need for preserving one's ability to drive. That need is made increasingly more onerous by the constant revision in roadway regulation, the re-designation and re-classification of roads and the number of new motoring offences being brought into force.

Although this area is constantly changing, the rules that preserve the ability to drive have not been updated with the same pace. In effect this means that in 2007 controlling the behaviour of drivers, vis-à-vis the totting up points system, is still dependant upon those rules that have remained in place for a number of decades.

We recognise that we live in a society where there is an increasing burden and pressure to travel ever greater distances and to cover increasing mileage in order to meet the modern day pressures of business life. Those pressures are further increased and compounded with the necessity to balance work with social responsibilities. From Managing Directors to school-run mums, we appreciate the importance of retaining our driving licences.

At JMW, we are able to offer a fixed fee advice and assistance service in relation to any motoring offence that you think you may have committed. We are able to provide assistance in completing Notices of Intended Prosecution (NIP's) or any other documentation that has been sent by the Police or any other road traffic regulatory authority.

We also offer a personal attendance service, e.g. if you are going to be interviewed by the Police in relation to any road traffic incident, whether you are acting as a witness or the Police suspect you of committing an offence, then as your lawyers we can be present throughout the time of an interview and act for you during an investigation at every stage. We also have the experience to negotiate with the authorities on your behalf and present to them your point of view.

We have the resources to consider in great detail, if it is appropriate to do so, the allegations, and to investigate any defence you might have. We also have strategic alliances with experts who are able to advise on the merits of your case. If you have already been summonsed or charged with a road traffic offence and you are due to appear before a court then we have the experience to assist you.

We are able to advise on;
- avoiding disqualification
- being in charge whilst unfit
- camera offences
- causing death by dangerous driving
- document offences
- drink driving
- driving whilst unfit
- driving without due care and attention
- failing to furnish information on the identity of a driver
- failing to provide a specimen
- driving whilst disqualified
- driving without a licence
- driving without insurance
- speeding
