Corporate Recovery and Insolvency

Our Corporate Recovery and Insolvency department offers practical and specialist corporate and personal insolvency advice and strong transactional and technical support to insolvency practitioners, lenders and other stakeholders.

Insolvency law and practice is both complex and constantly in a state of flux but the department's extensive and wideranging depth of knowledge and experience in this area ensures that clients will receive focused advice that is both practical and commercial. Never has this been more essential than now, when our economy is faced with crisis in many sectors, with both businesses and individuals facing a tide of increasing debt that is often difficult and sometimes impossible to service.

At JMW we understand that the day to day pressures of running a business are demanding, particularly in the current economic climate. The department can offer tailored advice to businesses whether run as companies, partnerships or sole traderships, on how to deal with mounting debts, getting money in from creditors, negotiating with banks and other lenders to restructure facilities and can also advise generally on business restructuring and de-mergers.

In the event that insolvency is unavoidable, we have the expertise to guide businesses through the various alternative insolvency procedures and to identify the best options in order to achieve the most beneficial outcome for all stakeholders. In addition the team can offer clear-cut advice to directors on their potential personal liability and obligations when their business is faced with financial and insolvency issues.

Our expertise within the department covers all areas of both contentious and non-contentious insolvency law and related issues including:

  • Administrations
