Manchester law firm acting for ex Sitel workers in unfair dismissal claim

The employment team at Manchester based law firm JMW Solicitors LLP are currently acting for over 120 ex-employees of Sitel UK Limited, Accrington site.

In November 2011 Sitel UK Limited closed their Accrington site at the Globe Centre with the loss of all 232 staff.  Employment Partner at JMW, Carl Moran, is acting for over 120 employees bringing claims for unfair dismissal and for the company’s failure to consult properly with its staff to avoid or minimise job losses. It is anticipated that JMW will shortly be instructed to represent 75% of Sitel’s former workforce and the number is increasing on a daily basis. 

Employment Tribunal proceedings have now been lodged in the Manchester Employment Tribunal for all of the ex-employees JMW are acting for.  If any other former employees wish to join in the claim, please contact Carl Moran by no later than 13 February 2012 on telephone 0161 828 8334.

Whilst unable to comment on the specifics of the on-going case, Carl Moran commented:

”Whilst we have not yet received Sitel’s response to the claim we have lodged, it is difficult to see how Sitel can justify the fairness of these dismissals or the way in which the employees have been treated. We have set up a dedicated team at JMW to deal with these claims and would like to hear from anyone else who has been dismissed alongside the ex-employees we are acting for. We do not of course know at this stage when the final Employment Tribunal hearing will be, but we anticipate that the damages recoverable are likely to run into several millions of pounds.”
