Clinical Negligence Newsletter Winter 2010:
Legacy Rainbow House Hospice
The Legacy Rainbow House is a charity providing services for children with brain injuries, disabilities and other life limiting conditions, as well as support for their families.
It is based in Ormskirk Lancashire and is the chosen charity of the Clinical Negligence Department at JMW. We came to choose this particular charity because of the large number of cerebral palsy cases we deal with at JMW and because one of our previous clients is making wonderful progress there.
The philosophy of Rainbow House is based on a holistic approach to rehabilitation known as Conductive Education (CE), which aims to teach severely disabled children methods for living more independent lives through education, recreation and sport. Through intensive input from trained therapists CE develops emotional and intellectual skills as well as improving motor skills and function.
At JMW we have been impressed by the work done at Rainbow House and the dedication of the staff, and we are pleased to be one of their supporters. We have already been involved in a number of fund raising events for Rainbow House this year, including the challengingCoast to Coast cycle ride. Five members of the Clinical Negligence Department took part in the ride and all of them completed it, raising over £2,000.
