Expatriate Asbestos Claims

Asbestosis & Pleural Thickening

These are two benign conditions which are potentially also caused by exposure to asbestos which has lead to the inhalation of asbestos fibres and are a result of the scarring that this can cause. Asbestosis is caused by the scarring to the alveoli which are the tissues responsible for the exchange of carbon dioxide and oxygen. Symptoms you may suffer from are: shortness of breath, coughs and chest pain. Diagnosis can be by way of an x-ray, CT scan or biopsy.

Our lawyers have handled many asbestos claims against heavy industry in the UK.  If you want to know whether your symptoms may be asbestos related or need advice in claiming then call now or email for immediate advice.

Pleural thickening is scaring to the pleura which has become widespread and also has the potential to restrict lung capacity. If the disease is widespread and affects both lungs then it is referred to a bilateral diffuse pleural thickening. There are several other potential causes of pleural thickening including pneumonia, tuberculosis, malignancy or infection. The courts have also ruled that pleural thickening can only be compensated to the extent that it is symptomatic and so lung function tests need to be performed. This is another potentially complex area that requires expert legal advice. There are strict time limits in pursuing claims both for asbestosis and pleural thickening and if you have any doubts you should call or now on 0800 054 6570, or email for a live chat and our lawyers will advise you today of the steps that you need to take to protect your position.
