Emphysema Claims
If you, a family member or friend, have developed emphysema as a result of the negligence of a current or former employer, you may be able to make an occupational emphysema claim.
Whilst the biggest cause of emphysema is smoking, it can also be contracted as a result of long term exposure to dusty working environments. The team at JMW will be happy to provide legal advice and guidance, helping you at every stage of the emphysema claims process.
Call 0800 054 6570 or complete the contact form and we will be in touch.
Can I make an Occupational Emphysema Claim?
Work related emphysema tends to be the result of extremely dusty working environments; if you worked in a dusty environment but were not provided with adequate safety gear or the proper training, your employer may have behaved negligently.
If you can show that your employer was negligent and that this led to your emphysema, you may be able to claim financial compensation. Contact a solicitor as soon as possible to find out if you have a claim.
Occupational Emphysema: The Facts
The workers most at risk of developing emphysema as a result of their working environment, and thus most likely to make emphysema claims, include mill and factory workers, construction workers and anyone else who works in a dusty environment without the necessary protection.
Industrial pollutants like silica dust, welding fumes, textile dust and coal dust are amongst the primary causes of occupational emphysema. Symptoms include:
- Tightness in the chest
- Breathlessness
- Fatigue
- Persistent cough
If you are worried about the possibility of contracting occupational emphysema, or you think you may already have it, contact a doctor as soon as possible.
