" I instructed Chris Proctor to represent me in relation to an allegation of driving without insurance. I have 7 points on my driving licence . The penalty for no insurance is 6 points. I was therefore in danger of reaching 1 3 points, which would have led to a 6 month disqualification. Chris advised me about the possibility of relying on an exceptional hardship argument to convince the court not to disqualify me for totting up . However, this would have meant that if the court accepted the argument, I would have been driving around with 13 points on my licence until the end of 2013 , when some of the points come off. I would not have been able to rely on exceptional hardship if I received any further points before the end of 2013. I have recently started a new business and rely heavily on my licence and could not take this chance . Chris managed to convince the court to disqualify me for 7 days rather than give me points which means that if I am unfortunate to find myself in a similar position before the end of 2013 I can still plead exceptional hardship.

" I was stopped by the Police after I was caught driving whilst using my mobile phone. They ran some checks on my car and it transpired that the MOT had lapsed. The Police informed me that as I had no MOT, my insurance was invalid. I was therefore faced with the prospect of receiving 6-8 penalty points on my licence for having no insurance as well as separate penalties for using my mobile phone and having no MOT.

I was very concerned as I have held my licence for less than two years and therefore 6 points would have resulted in my licence being revoked.
