About Acupuncture

While the majority of acupuncture treatments are completed without complications, it is not unknown for an acupuncturist to make mistakes. Unlike many conventional health professionals who need to be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council, anyone can offer acupuncture regardless of their level of training or expertise.

However, most acupuncturists are required to register with their local authority, adhere to health and safety legislation and allow regular hygiene inspections. There is also a number of organisations that promote safe practice for acupuncture, including the British Acupuncture Society, the Acupuncture Associate of Chartered Physiotherapists and the British Acupuncture Council.

It can be upsetting to still be suffering from pain when you were expecting to feel it being eased, or be cured of it entirely. Our solicitors are committed to helping you make a successful claim against those responsible for causing your injuries and carrying out unsafe practices. With our help, you can seek recompense for your suffering and see negligent third parties brought to justice.

Types of Injury

Complications that can arise from acupuncture include:

  • Vomiting, headaches and other pains during treatment
  • Worsening of pre-existing conditions
  • An abnormal level of bruising and redness
  • Damage to tissue and infections
  • Temporary losses of consciousness
  • Collapsed lungs
  • Abscesses

Regardless of how you have been injured by acupuncture treatment, if it was caused by somebody else’s negligence, then you will be entitled to make a claim for compensation.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a treatment originating from China that has been developed over hundreds of years. The procedure involves inserting fine needles into certain areas on your body where nerve endings can release endorphins to relieve pain. It is considered to be an effective form of pain relief for many of the body’s organs and functions, including the nervous, respiratory, urinary and reproductive systems.

Although the treatment is widely regarded as an alternative form of therapy, the NHS has been known to proscribe it to patients to alleviate chronic pain.
