Claims Against Uninsured Drivers
If you have been involved in a car accident but you are worried that the other driver is uninsured, contact us at JMW on 0800 054 6570, and we will help you through the process of bringing claim. Many people fear that if a driver is uninsured then this must mean that there is no means of recovering compensation for financial loss arising from that accident, or any injuries that are suffered. We can help you with these compensation claims and ensure that you do recover what you should.
We will be able to present your claim to an organisation called the Motor Insurers’ Bureau (MIB) which was set up to provide a claims fund for accidents caused by uninsured motorists. Regrettably, current figures estimate that about 1 in every 20 cars on the road is uninsured, and it is increasingly common for accidents to involve an uninsured driver. We handle hundreds of claims like this and we can guide you through making a claim to the MIB, and take you through the particular process that applies. There are specific procedures to follow, and we will deal with all of that for you and make sure that your interests are prioritised. It will cost you nothing for us to act on your behalf.
Try to obtain as much information at the scene of the accident as you can, such as the name and address of the driver and full details of the vehicle (make, model and registration number), and note details of accident damage caused. Look for any available witnesses at the scene and obtain their details as well. All such information will be of assistance to us in dealing with the MIB at a later stage, and so help us to secure the best possible outcome for you.
As with any car accident claim, we will still gather all the necessary information to enable us to calculate and claim the losses that you have incurred and need to recover. We also obtain expert medical evidence on any injuries you have sustained.
If the other driver involved in the accident cannot actually be traced at all, we can still help you by advising you on how the MIB acts to compensate you in claims against hit and run drivers.
Have you been injured? Do you wonder what your claim is worth?
Take a quick look at our compensation calculator for a guide to how much you could expect to claim.
