We are recruiting for a Paralegal and/or Conveyancing Assistant to join the Real Estate Residential department at our head office in Spinningfields, Manchester.

Previous experience within a conveyancing team would be preferred but is not essential.  The role will be supporting fee earners with their caseloads.  The team typically deal with:

  • Freehold and leasehold sales and purchases
  • New build properties
  • Help to Buy properties
  • Shared Ownership properties
  • Remortgages
  • Builders and Developers

This will be a fantastic opportunity for the successful applicant to develop their legal knowledge in a friendly and supportive environment. You would be joining a dynamic and growing department. 

The role will be fully office-based initially, with the option to work from home one day a week following a settling in period. 

Person Specification

  • A law degree.
  • Previous experience within a conveyancing team (preferred but not essential).
  • Excellent customer services skills.
  • Ability to manage workload and prioritise effectively.
  • Team player – work well with others, provide support where necessary, and know your limits and when to seek guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensuring clients and introducers receive the best possible service at all times
  • Communicating with clients of the department in a professional and courteous manner
  • Receiving telephone calls into the department; dealing with the calls as far as is possible and directing the calls where appropriate.
  • Dealing with straightforward enquiries
  • Making calls to clients and third parties involved in the conveyancing transaction.
  • Ordering searches
  • Drafting search reports and mortgage reports under the supervision of a conveyancer
  • Responding promptly to requests for updates from clients, estate agents, brokers and introducers.
  • Updating introducer portals where necessary
  • Preparing contract packs
  • Ordering documents from HMLR.
  • Ordering bankruptcy searches, priority searches and company searches
  • Log post in
  • Preparing files for completion
  • Ensuring that the case management is fully up to date
  • Using own initiative to progress files within the limits of own ability
  • Flagging any issues/concerns to conveyancer with responsibility for the matter
  • Undertaking any other tasks that may be required to assist the department
