Getting to know.. Alison Chu

13th October 2014

We asked our new solicitor, a few questions to get to know her a little better beyond the legal..

So Alison...

How did you first start working in Law?

I've always been interested in working in law, and undertook various work experience from secondary school and through university. I always enjoyed the advocacy side of law, and completed the BVC after finishing my law degree. I have since cross qualified as a solicitor.

What is your favourite thing about working in Law?

I enjoy the fact that it is constantly changing, and that every case is different. The procedures and processes, as well as the law, is always changing and evolving, which brings new challenges and keeps me interested.

If you didn't work in Law what would you do?

Perhaps something creative; hand-made arts/crafts/jewellery maybe. I think I should stick to law though!

What's the one thing you can't live without?

My duvet I get cold so easily!

Who inspires you? (personally or professionally)

I'm usually inspired more by movements or ideas. However, if I had to think of something, it would be Mandela.

If you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?

Definitely flying. I'm usually flying in most of my dreams..not sure what that means though!

What nicknames do you have?

My family call my 'Bee' which is just short for baby. They called me this when I was a baby, which is fine - but then never stopped!

What was the last book you read?

1984 one of those books I really needed to get around to reading.

If you hosted a dinner party, what three people (dead or alive) would you invite?

1. Stephen Fry for the good stories/his mind in general

2. Karl Pilkington for the laughs

3. Darren Brown - to confuse us, most likely

What question would you ask the next person undertaking this Q&A?

What's the most unusual thing that you've ever eaten?

Additional question from Ellen Walker..If you were an animal what you would be?

Hmm.. I'd like to think a tiger.
