SEASON WORKER VISA UK

From 6th April 2022, the Seasonal Worker visa route received updates and changes that could prove crucial to many workers looking to enter the UK. While some new rules have been added, some have also been changed or taken away, so it is important that any current or future seasonal workers understand exactly what has changed and what this will mean for them.

If you are looking to enter the UK for temporary work, or require seasonal workers for your business, contact the expert immigration solicitors at JMW. Call 0345 872 6666 or fill in an online enquiry form and we will return your call at a time convenient for you.

How JMW Can Help

You should always seek expert advice when attempting to navigate the complexities of immigration law, as the process is long and any mistakes made can cause a lot of delays and wasted time. At JMW, our solicitors stay informed on the latest immigration law developments, allowing us to provide up-to-date advice on changes that you may have missed.

We can offer advice and provide representation should you be required to attend court during the immigration process. Immigration also requires you to read or complete many documents that are written in formal legal language, so the eye of a solicitor will help you to save time and understand your responsibilities. By looking over your documentation, we can advise you on what information you should include, and recommend further action that you may need to take.

What are the New Updates to the Seasonal Worker Route?

Effective from 6th April 2022, the new updates to the Seasonal Worker visa have changed to:

  • Include roles in ornamental horticulture, including, but not limited to, Christmas tree and forest nursery workers.
  • Increase the minimum hourly wage to £10.10.
  • Exclude references to poultry production, haulage driving of food goods, and specified pork butchery work.

Individual employers are not eligible to apply for a licence to sponsor seasonal workers. In order to, your business must be a scheme operator and either be endorsed by the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) or licensed by the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority. There are currently only four scheme operators:

  • AG Recruitment and Management Ltd
  • Concordia Ltd
  • Fruitful Jobs
  • Pro-Force Ltd
