JMW strengthens London office with six senior hires

JMW Solicitors LLP has hired a further six Partners to join the firm’s growing London offering. All six Partners will be based in the firm’s newly established London office.

Jonathan Askin has joined as Head of the Commercial team in London. He advises clients ranging from start-ups to large international corporates across various industries, including retail, leisure, sport, insurance, manufacturing, travel and public services on commercial contracts and business relationships. He has also worked as Senior Legal Counsel to the UK Government. Jonathan was named UK Commercial Lawyer of the Year in December 2019 by Lawyer Monthly and is a recommended lawyer in the Legal 500. He joins from BLM.

William Michael joins as the Head of Real Estate Residential in the London office. With more than ten years of experience in the property industry, William has acted for clients ranging from first-time buyers to high-net-worth individuals and property developers. In addition, he has extensive experience in all aspects of residential conveyancing to include purchase, sale, right to buy and lease extension transactions. William is renowned as one of the highest performing individuals in the market place and has a strong reputation within the residential property sector. William joins from McMillan Williams.

Raam Kanbi also has joined the Real Estate Residential team as a Partner in the London office and specialises in new build properties. He also joins from McMillan Williams.

Scott Keown has joined the Real Estate Commercial team. Scott brings more than 15 years’ experience transacting in the commercial property sector in the UK and Australia. He delivers investment transactions for private and institutional participants alongside a range of asset management, development, funding, tenant representation and M&A deals. He joins from Fox Williams.

David Wadsworth has joined the Commercial Litigation department. He has more than 25 years’ experience and specialises in all areas of real estate litigation, commercial and residential, including professional negligence claims arising out of property transactions. He joins from Blake Morgan LLP.

Philip Partington specialises in Intellectual Property litigation and has been described by the Legal 500 as a ‘next generation lawyer’ and ‘very sound litigator’. He is well known for successfully defending parties in complex IP court proceedings in both the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and High Court. He also deals with intellectual property oppositions and invalidity proceedings in both the UK Intellectual Property Office and the EU IPO. He joins from IP boutique Virtuoso Legal.
