Inquest for girl, 9, who died on Christmas Day after doctor sent her home from hospital
The devastated parents of a nine-year-old girl who died of septicaemia on Christmas Day 2012 after a junior doctor sent her home from hospital will attend an inquest into her death next week.
The inquest into Rhianna Rawding’s death resumes on Wednesday 11th December at Southwark Coroner’s Court and is expected to last for one day.
Her parents Gemma and Justin Rawding, of Rochester, Kent, are being represented at the inquest by specialist medical negligence solicitors at law firm JMW.
JMW is also investigating why Rhianna was sent home from the A&E department at University Hospital Lewisham when there were worrying signs that she was extremely unwell.
Seven hours later Rhianna collapsed and stopped breathing at her grandmother’s home in the Lewisham area. Resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced dead in hospital.
