Rebecca Cahill

Associate Solicitor Manchester Clinical Negligence

Rebecca joined JMW in March 2016 and is a solicitor in the clinical negligence department. She has a busy caseload and works with a variety of clients who have suffered avoidable harm as a result of failures in the NHS and private health services.

Rebecca has specialised solely in clinical negligence claims since the start of her legal career. Rebecca qualified as a solicitor into the JMW clinical negligence department in March 2018.

Before securing a training contract with JMW she was employed as a paralegal in the clinical negligence department at Slater and Gordon, where she managed her own caseload.

Rebecca graduated from the University of Liverpool with a BA honours degree in Law and Criminology. She then went on to study at the College of Law in Chester and completed her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course, for which she gained a distinction. Whist studying, Rebecca volunteered as a Special Constable for Merseyside Police.

The clinical negligence cases Rebecca regularly deals with include:

·         Delays in diagnosing cancer

·         Stillbirth claims;

·         Spinal injuries

·         Delays in diagnosing slipped upper femoral epiphysis (SUFE)

·         Surgical errors

·         Orthopaedic injuries

·         Vision Loss

·         Fatal claims

She has secured many compensation settlements on behalf of her clients, including £170,000 for a woman who suffered appalling injuries due to negligent breast cancer surgery and £20,000 for a man whose scaphoid fracture went in diagnosed due to the misinterpretation of an X-Ray.

In her spare time Rebecca enjoys horse riding, cooking for friends and long walks with her dog, Peggi.
