JMW Encourages Thomas Cook Employees to Contact Them Following Administration Announcement
JMW’s Employment Law team urges Thomas Cook employees to get in touch following the company’s administration announcement. Affected employees of the world’s oldest travel firm are invited to contact the team to discuss their rights and find out more about the options available to them.
More than 20,000 jobs are now at risk across the world, including 9,000 in the UK, after last-minute negotiations to save the company failed to find a resolution. Up to 600,000 customers are thought to be affected, with a repatriation plan - dubbed Operation Matterhorn - to bring home stranded British tourists estimated to have a potential cost of £600million.
JMW’s employment solicitors are highly experienced in dealing with cases like these, having previously represented employees of insolvent companies such as JJB Sports Plc, Maplin and Toys’R’Us. We can advise Thomas Cook employees on their legal rights and what steps they can take.
Sarah Evans, a partner in JMW’s employment team, says:
“At JMW we understand the enormity of the situation presented to employees of Thomas Cook. The potential job loss and uncertainty of future job prospects will lead to an extremely difficult period for all employees involved.
“Our employment law team is highly experienced in dealing with the challenges facing individuals following a company’s liquidation. We have handled a number of similar cases, including bringing a class action on behalf of former employees of JJB Sports. We are here to provide both clear and helpful advice to all employees who are unsure of the options available to them at this time.”
We have prepared a free guide on how to recover statutory payments such as notice pay and lost wages which you can access here, and which we hope will prove useful, especially to those workers who worked in the retail part of Thomas Cook in particular who won’t necessarily qualify for the protective award because of the size of the workforce in each outlet being less than 20, but will be equally concerned about recovering what they can.
If you were or are an employee of Thomas Cook, please do not hesitate to get in touch with our employment law team to discuss your next move. We understand this is an extremely distressing time and we are here to help. Contact us on 0345 646 0341 or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or complete our online enquiry form for more information.
