Matthew advises on a broad mix of Family Law matters including cohabitation agreements and disputes, divorce and financial settlements, domestic violence issues, separation and pre-nuptial agreements as well as issues relating to arrangements for children. He has particular experience in dealing with financial provision upon the breakdown of a relationship and regularly deals with cases for medium to high net worth individuals involving all forms of assets, including businesses, residential and commercial property, trusts and pensions. In addition, Matthew regularly undertakes complex Children Act proceedings involving contested private law proceedings regarding all aspects of a child’s upbringing as well as the enforcement of Orders pertaining to a child.

Matthew graduated with a Law Degree from the University of Keele in 2008 having being awarded the Family Law module prize for the best performance in his cohort. After completing his Legal Practice Course at the University of Law (Birmingham) in 2009, Matthew qualified as a Solicitor in 2012 at a law firm in Staffordshire dealing with Family Law matters from the onset. Matthew subsequently relocated to a top regional firm in Manchester before joining JMW in July 2018.
From the date of his instruction until the conclusion of the proceedings Matthew’s client care was exemplary. Matthew was extremely prompt in responding to email and telephone enquiries and would take the time to explain why a particular step was or ought to be taken during the proceedings. He is a solicitor who approaches his cases with sympathy, clarity and efficiency. I have no doubt that his future clients will benefit from his skill and dedication.
