Head and shoulders above the rest - Andrew is a leader in his field

Andrew Lilley, Partner, and Head of JMW’s Industrial Disease team, has been given the accolade of being a “Notable Practitioner” by independent legal directory, Chambers and Partners.

The honour was announced as part of the launch of this year’s suite of legal directories, which evaluate and rank the best lawyers and law firms across the world, with editions produced for each country, with regional sub-divisions.

The entry said of Andrew;

Andrew Lilley handles a range of cases, including claims arising from RTAs and industrial disease. One interviewee cites him as "utterly dogged" and "quietly effective," while another says that he "gives reliable, sound advice on any difficult issue."

As head of JMW’s Industrial Disease team, not only does Andrew oversee all industrial disease litigation for the firm, he also runs a caseload of high-value mesothelioma and asbestos-related disease cases.  Recent successes have included a reported decision clarifying the position regarding disposal of tissue samples and various low exposure cases, including a settlement against Cape PLC which pushed their knowledge of harmful low level exposures back to 1958-60.

He also runs a number of high value catastrophic personal injury cases, making use of his knowledge across both areas of litigation.  Previously, Andrew has also been noted for his expertise in asbestos litigation and catastrophic injury claims in independent legal directory, The Legal 500.

Micheal Rawlinson QC, who has worked with Andrew said of him: “Andrew is unfazed by anything and everything and is equal to it all.  He knows his own mind and any view he adopts is based on a thorough possession of the evidence, the law and a large dash of common sense.  He is firm with his counsel whilst being very approachable with his clients.  He is an excellent solicitor and a very good man to have in a (legal) fight.”

A recent client of Andrew’s said of his work on the case: “ I always had confidence that if I ever needed anything he would get back to me ASAP.  His commitment is second to none, what he has done is made someone’s life better through his hard work…had he not had the skills he did, where would we be now? He deserves an award.”
