Bicycle AccidentsPersonal Injury

Alistair is an Associate working in JMW’s Personal Injury department. He deals with the full spectrum of personal injury cases, from road traffic accidents to accidents in the workplace, slip and trips, injuries caused by animals and by defect products. His particular expertise is in relation to cycling collisions and injuries involving complex fractures. He also has an interest in cases involving chronic pain conditions.

When not at work, Alistair travels as much as possible (including a 2 week roadtrip to Stockholm and back in 2014), watching Salford Red Devils rugby league team home and away, drinking real ale and walking.

Why did you join JMW?

I joined JMW on the strength not only of the firm’s already excellent reputation but also on the basis of numerous glowing recommendations from friends and former colleagues in the profession.

Notable cases

Recent cases I have settled include a client who, whilst excavating to put in fence posts, struck high voltage electrical wiring and suffered extensive burns and permanent reduced function in one arm and a chap whose hand was crushed by a large piece of falling steel due to a failed electromagnet.

I recently found myself in the unusual position of being on the witness stand on one of my own cases involving an issue arising over an offer of settlement that had not been received from the defendant solicitors. Happily (and I like to think on the strength of my own evidence) the judge found in my favour.

What does JMW mean to you?

A medium sized firm with big ambitions and client care second to none.
