JMW's cash boost to national brain injury charity
Leading Manchester law firm JMW Solicitors revealed it has raised over £50,000 for national charity, the Child Brain Injury Trust, since establishing a relationship with them as their sole legal support services provider in the North West, in March 2015.
The law firm, which provides the charity’s service users with support and advice across all legal matters in the region, has raised £50,051.75 for the charity, which provides non-medical services to families affected by childhood acquired brain injuries across the UK. The five figure sum was raised in the period from May 2015 – December 2016 through a combination of staff-led initiatives, such as a three peaks challenge and attempts at breaking world records, and client events such as black tie dinners.
Rachel Parsons, head of fundraising for the Child Brain Injury Trust, commented: “Working with JMW Solicitors over the past several years has been an extremely rewarding relationship. The team’s passion to help their clients who are also our service users, is apparent, and their dedication to fundraising to support us is heart-warming.
“Whether it’s scaling the three peaks or baking cakes, the team’s commitment and enthusiasm to the task is as apparent as it is when they are helping clients. It is wonderful that JMW have reached this milestone fundraising mark and on behalf of the charity, I’m delighted to thank everyone at the firm who has supported us, no matter what they have done, as every penny raised truly does make a difference.”
JMW is planning more fundraising events to bolster this sum throughout the course of 2017, including a charitable skydive and two corporate lunch events.
Gordon Cartwright, partner and head injury specialist solicitor, said: “It is a pleasure for us to be able to support the Child Brain Injury Trust in the vital work that they do. As a head injury solicitor, I work with some of the individuals the Child Brain Injury Trust supports, and their families, and I can see first-hand how important the charity’s work is to those families.
“I feel very strongly that the best chance for a brain injury victim’s recovery is to combine the best possible medical treatment with a dedicated team that can help the family negotiate a host of obstacles they may encounter in the future. It is this support that the Child Brain Injury Trust are wonderful at providing, and making sure that they continue to receive funds to enable to keep up this work is something we’re very keen to do.”
JMW has a growing corporate social responsibility (CSR) portfolio. Its support of the Child Brain Injury Trust is one of many positive charitable relationships the firm has, with other charities supported including Headway, The Brain Charity, St Ann’s Hospice, Maggie’s Centres and the Wood Street Mission.
