JMW’s conveyancers see a rise in enquires

The residential conveyancing department at JMW Solicitors LLP has seen an increase in activity in the housing market and have taken on a further conveyancing specialist to cope with the additional workload.

Michael Purvis joins the residential conveyancing team at JMW as an Associate from Gorvins after previously spending 3 years at HL Interactive. Michael whobrings with him a host of additional contacts joins the team led by Partner Andrew Garvie, at a time where the team has seen an increase in instructions especially through the JMW website which were up by 96% compared to last year. The end in the stamp duty holiday on 24th March for first time buyers hasn’t affected the increase in property instructions and there has also been an increase in buy-to-let investors who are attracted by the good rental yields and low interest rates. Although the team at JMW feel there is an air of optimism creeping into the property market they are still dealing with a number of cases that involve repossessions.

Head of Residential Conveyancing at JMW Andrew Garvie said:

“We are delighted to welcome Michael to our team as he knows the market well and will help strengthen JMW’s reputation in residential conveyancing. We are already seeing an increase in activity with historically low interest rates and a general appetite from the public to get moving again. Our overall instructions are up considerably compared to this time last year.”

Andrew has recently been involved in a purchase on behalf of a first time buyer who bought an apartment in city centre Manchester after appearing on Channel 4 programme Location, Location, Location which was shown on 15th March.
