Trainee Solicitor Manchester Trainee Solicitors
Savanna joined JMW in June 2017 as a paralegal in the Commercial Litigation team. Savanna is completing her training contract at JMW, and has been with the Business Crime and Regulatory team since September 2019.
Savanna has experience of dealing with various aspects of criminal defence. During the first year of her training contract, she has assisted solicitors in representing clients alleged to have committed a range of criminal offences, including:
- Fraud and Money Laundering
- Conspiracy to Supply Class A drugs
- Serious Assault
- Kidnap and False Imprisonment
- Sexual Offences
- Causing Death by Careless Driving
- Trading Standards Offences
Savanna has worked on complex cases involving Account Freezing Orders, Account Forfeiture Orders, and applications to discharge Restraint Orders. Savanna has experience in Complaints against the Police and Judicial Reviews challenging decisions of public bodies.
Savanna also has experience in regulatory defence and professional discipline, having assisted in representing Police Officers of Federated rank facing criminal and/or gross misconduct proceedings and pharmacists being investigated by their Regulatory body for Fitness to Practice.
In addition to public law and education law cases, Savanna assisted the Commercial Litigation team on a broad range of matters, including the obtaining of freezing injunctions and other interim injunctions.
Savanna graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2015 with a First Class degree in Broadcast Journalism, winning an award for Best Television Documentary. Savanna went on to attain Distinctions in her Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course, with a Masters in Law, Business and Management, from the University of Law in Manchester.
Before starting her training contract, Savanna spent six weeks in Ghana where she volunteered with a foundation on a project aimed at stopping child labour. Savanna climbed Mount Snowdon for the Snowdon Push 2018, ran the 10k Great Manchester Run 2017 and at University she won the Raising and Giving Top Fundraiser award.
Outside of work Savanna enjoys travelling, fitness classes and spending time with her family in the Isle of Man.
Savanna is a member of Women in Criminal Law, the Fraud Advisory Panel and the Manchester Trainee Solicitors Group.
