27 November – 1 December is “Annual Awareness Week” for Resolution.
Resolution is a community of family justice professionals who work with families and individuals to resolves issues in a constructive way.
To celebrate its 40th anniversary Resolution are using Awareness Week to launch their vision for family justice, focusing on the need for cohabitation reform.
Contrary to popular belief, couples who cohabit do not have the same legal rights upon separation as married couples who divorce.
Couples may have lived together for decades and have children but they still aren’t given the same legal protection or status as someone who is married.
Resolution are calling for more rights for unmarried couples and are looking to change the law in this area.
