Getting to know.. Holly Clayton-Smith

8th October 2015

We asked our new corporate solicitor a few questions to get to know her a little better. So Holly...

How did you first start working in Law?

I studied law as I thought it would be a challenging degree. I had never thought about becoming a solicitor prior to that but I enjoyed the degree so took a few years out and then went down the paralegal route until I was offered a training contract.

What is your favourite thing about working in Law?

The variety of the work and the fact that you will never know everything means there is always something to learn.

If you didn't work in Law what would you do?

I would have liked to have been a journalist for a magazine like Grazia or Glamour.

What's the one thing you can't live without?

Who inspires you? (personally or professionally)

My parents, particularly my mum as she instilled a strong work ethic in me and taught me that if you want to have nice things then you have to work hard for them.

If you were a superhero, what superpower would you have?

The ability to transport myself instantly to wherever I am going.

What nicknames do you have?

What was the last book you read?

If you hosted a dinner party, what three people (dead or alive) would you invite?

1. Prince Harry;

2. Simon Cowell;

3. Karen Brady.

Question from Nathan Dean: Would you rather be in a real life version of Jurassic park or face a zombie invasion?

Real life version of Jurassic Park.

What question would you ask the next person undertaking this Q&A?

What is the most embarrassing thing that has happened to you at work?
