Staying Compliant: Operational and Enforcement Implications of the Renters' Rights Act
The Renters’ Rights Act went live on 1st May 2026.
The bill makes a number of significant changes to the laws that landlords must follow when renting. Whilst there has been lots of noise about the act, any lawyer must advise landlords and agents to also understand the criminal implications of the act for their clients.
Join Ben Hall, Partner in our specialist Business Crime Team, to explore the new housing offences introduced under the legislation. Ben will explain how local authorities investigate potential breaches and how decisions to prosecute are made. He will also discuss how the enforcement process is expected to work in practice and review the consultation on sentencing guidelines for housing offences, alongside some example cases.
