JMW strengthens London Family Team with five new hires And further expands Private Client team with senior partner hire

JMW Solicitors LLP continues its expansion of the London office, with five hires for the Family Team and a senior partner hire for the Private Client Team.

Patrick Hart, formerly Head of Family at Royds Withy King, joins as a partner with three of his colleagues. Tracey Rodford, partner, also joins the Family team from Camilla Baldwin. They strengthen the current team, led by partners Michael Rowlands and Philip Cooper, bringing the family team in London to nine. The Legal 500 describes Patrick as “a vastly experienced divorce lawyer and one of the country’s leading solicitors in representing HNW spouses. He is a superb leader and excellent tactician.”

Kiran Vasudeva has joined the Private Client team, headed by Jamie Mathieson, as a partner.

Patrick specialises in complex financial proceedings upon divorce, often involving cross-jurisdictional issues, offshore trusts and overseas assets. He has a particular interest in complicated corporate structures and disputes arising between company directors and shareholders. Patrick aims to find sensible, early compromises where possible and adopts a robust settlement position where necessary. Where court applications arise, he undertakes much of the advocacy at court.

Tracey specialises in representing parents and resolving complex disputes regarding their children. She also has significant experience with separating couples unravelling their matrimonial finances. Tracey has represented high profile clients including sports personalities, celebrities and international businessmen in complex, high net worth and ultra-high net worth court proceedings.

Patrick and Tracey will be joined by associates Hannah Butcher and John Newberry and solicitor Matthew Vincent.

Kiran has a wide range of expertise across all aspects of Private Client including Court of Protection, mental capacity and deputyship matters. She specialises in loss of mental capacity, setting up and registering Powers of Attorney, estate planning, will preparation and the setting up and administration of Trusts. She joins from New Quadrant Partners Ltd.

Joy Kingsley, Senior Partner, said: “We have enjoyed significant growth in the London market since we opened in May 2019. These hires bring the team in London to 32 partners. Since January 2020, we have made 21 hires where negotiations have been completed remotely. We are committed to our continued growth in the London market and will maintain a flexible approach to this evolving economic environment.”

JMW Solicitors LLP has been ranked number 33 in 2020 The Sunday Times 'Best Companies' to work for listing. The listing is compiled from a survey of company staff across all sectors. JMW was the second law firm within the top 100.
