An investigation by JMW has revealed that less than half of English maternity trusts are providing community midwives with a device that could help them prevent brain damage in newborns. Bilirubinometers, which monitor jaundice levels, cost just thousands but can help midwives identify babies in need of urgent hospital treatment quickly.
