Boy awarded £26 million for lifelong care after catalogue of maternity failures cause severe brain damage

Eddie Jones, head of medical negligence at JMW Solicitors, has secured £26 million in compensation for a boy who suffered severe brain damage due to a catalogue of errors at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London during his birth. .
Nicholas Young, a specialist medical negligence solicitor at JMW, is representing Roger Kirman, a haemophiliac who was given the wrong blood clotting medication at Manchester Royal Infirmary. Roger, who was also a victim of the NHS infected blood scandal of the 1970s and 80s says the error has caused him mobility problems. The hospital trust has admitted the error following JMW's intervention but denies that it has caused Roger ongoing problems.
Coroners could investigate stillbirths – expert comment

Sophie Fox, a specialist clinical negligence solicitor at JMW who has handled numerous stillbirth cases has welcomed the news today that coroners may be given new powers to investigate stillbirths and says it will help lessons to be learned where needed.

IPSA pays compensation to data breach victims

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority (IPSA), the body responsible for setting and regulating MPs’ expenses, business costs, salaries, and pensions, has paid damages to victims of a “significant” data breach that affected 3,000 people, predominantly MPs’ staff.
