Iya qualified as a solicitor in 2023 having completed a private client-focused training contract before joining JMW in 2026. She has particular expertise in:
- Administration of estates, including high-value and complex matters. Her work often involves complex inheritance tax matters and the preparation of detailed IHT accounts, as well as estates that qualify for Agricultural Property Relief and Business Property Relief. She has also worked on cross-border estates, liaising with overseas advisers to navigate jurisdictional and succession issues, and has experience dealing with large and complex intestate estates.
- Estate planning including drafting simple and complex will structures, with the objectives of tax planning and asset protection.
- Declarations of Trust, most often concerning the protection of contributions to the purchase (and the maintenance costs) of a property.
- Considering mental capacity issues and the preparation of Powers of Attorney.
Prior to joining JMW, Iya graduated from the University of Reading with a First Class Honours degree in Law and went on to achieve a Distinction in the Legal Practice Course with a Masters in Law. Iya was also shortlisted for Lawyer of the Year in 2026 at the Pro-Manchester Made in Manchester Awards.
Outside of work, she enjoys keeping active with Pilates, heading out on long walks, trying new restaurants and travelling whenever she can.
