Laura qualified as a solicitor in 2007 having undertaken her training contract at Halliwells LLP before moving with the same private client team to Laytons LLP and Gateley Plc. She then spent almost five years working closer to home before heading back to the city to join JMW. Laura's experience covers the full range of private wealth related matters with an emphasis on succession planning and wealth protection for high net worth individuals. She has particular expertise in:
- Drafting complex wills with a particular focus on tax planning and asset protection;
- Creating trusts, again with a focus on tax planning and asset protection;
- Advising on Inheritance tax and capital gains tax mitigation using a variety of estate planning strategies;
- Acting as a professional trustee, trust protector and professional executor;
- Dealing with estate administration and post death deeds of variation; and
- Considering issues of mental capacity and implementing Lasting Powers of Attorney
Laura frequently writes articles and comments on private wealth matters for national newspapers. She also lectures to groups of professionals on a wide range of private wealth matters.
