Layla joined JMW in April 2016 and is a partner in the Commercial Litigation Department.

Layla specialises in complex and high value commercial disputes (with a particular emphasis on property litigation and banking and finance litigation). Layla advises a wide range of clients from PLCs and financial institutions to individuals, across a broad range of sectors.

Layla’s experience includes (amongst many other things) acting in high value and complex trust disputes, shareholder disputes, directors’ duties disputes, misrepresentation claims, professional negligence actions, complex mortgage enforceability disputes and injunctive proceedings, including freezing orders.

Layla has a down to earth and no-nonsense approach and offers pragmatic and commercial solutions to client’s problems.

Layla’s experience includes acting for the First Respondent in high profile proceedings under the Electronic Communications Code in Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure and (1) Ashloch Limited and (2) AP Wireless II (UK) Limited, and more recently acting for the successful Claimant in Fattal v Fattal 2022 which is a significant decision for co-ownership disputes and proprietary remedies.
