Mags joined JMW Solicitors’ Real Estate Finance team in 2018 and is a highly experienced property finance specialist with over 18 years’ expertise across secured lending and real estate transactions.
She advises a broad range of banks, financial institutions, and specialist lenders on secured lending matters, with particular expertise in short-term finance involving commercial, mixed-use, HMO, and residential properties.
Mags has extensive experience managing complex and time-sensitive transactions, delivering commercially focused advice and practical solutions to support lenders throughout the funding process.
Prior to joining JMW, Mags developed a strong background in the residential remortgage market, acting for both lenders and private borrowers on residential and buy-to-let remortgages, as well as transfer of equity transactions. This dual perspective enables her to understand the priorities of all parties involved while ensuring transactions are progressed efficiently and effectively.
Mags also has significant expertise in the recovery of secured lending, having acted for both high street and specialist subprime lenders.
She began her career at Manchester firm HL Interactive LLP, a subsidiary of Halliwells, before joining Shoosmiths LLP, where she established and led the firm’s Mortgage Rehabilitation Department. Working closely with lender litigation teams, she developed bespoke processes and solutions designed to maximise recoveries, improve efficiencies, and meet the evolving needs of institutional clients.
