Priya Sejpal is a Partner in JMW’s London Commercial Litigation team with over ten years’ experience in property litigation and commercial disputes. She is fluent in Hindi and Gujarati, enabling her to support a diverse international client base.
Priya has a keen interest in the Indian market and has built an extensive network of trusted contacts across India, including major businesses and legal advisers. In 2023, Priya undertook a key business development trip to India, meeting with long-standing partners and establishing new relationships. Her understanding of the Indian market means that she is perfectly placed to assist Indian clients who have assets and require legal advice in the UK.
Priya is an active member of the Asian Chamber of Commerce, where she promotes UK–South Asia business collaboration.
Her litigation practice spans a broad range of disputes, acting for multinational companies, SMEs, high-net-worth individuals, major landlords, and public figures. Her expertise includes:
- Residential and commercial possession proceedings
- Orders for sale and commercial forfeiture
- Relief applications, service charge disputes, council tax matters
- Boundary, planning, right to light, trespass, and adverse possession issues
- High-value insolvency and breach of contract claims
- Complex construction arbitration, including securing a recent multi-million-pound award
Priya has successfully appeared as an advocate across all court levels, including the Court of Appeal.
She has received notable recognition, having been shortlisted for a National Diversity Award (2018), awarded Best Litigator in Southeast England at the SME Legal Awards (2019), and listed as a Recommended Lawyer in the Legal 500 (2023) directory.
Priya regularly contributes to legal publications, including the Financial Times, and speaks at industry events. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing, reading, travelling, and acting — having performed at the Old Vic and the Almeida Theatre and appeared on BBC’s Grange Hill.
