Liz joined JMW as a Partner in September 2015 after previously spending 6 years at national law firm Hill Dickinson as well as time at Square One Law in Newcastle.

Liz advises corporate boards and senior executives from a wide range of organisations, including owner managed businesses, sole traders, SME’s, PLC’s and Universities on all aspects of both contentious and non contentious employment law. Her personal approach and tenacity has won her praise from clients and fellow lawyers alike and she has been described in the legal press as ‘industrious’, 'very approachable and professional’, with ‘excellent client skills and quick to get to the heart of the problem and provide client-led solutions’.

Liz has particular expertise in advising retail clients at board level on matters affecting the retail sector. In particular, she advises on high value complex employment litigation, resisting tribunal claims, board disputes, change managements (restructures, reorganisations and collective redundancies), severance agreements, and TUPE transfers in particular on matters of service provision change. She has significant experience in acting for retail clients and sporting sectors and her clients include household name Home Bargains and Online Gadgets Limited.

Liz graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2001 in English and German Laws LLB after which she spent time working for Hogan Lovells in Dusseldorf. Liz joined Hill Dickinson upon qualification in 2006 where she worked until her move to Newcastle’s Square One Law in 2012. Liz relocated back to the North West and, in September 2015, she joined JMW as a partner in the Employment team. Liz was promoted to Head of Employment in May 2016.

Outside work, Liz enjoys a variety of sports such as tennis, yoga and skiing. She is also a keen musician and plays the flute and piano.
