Job Title: Partner and Head of Commercial
Corporate and CommercialSports Law
Richard is a Partner and head of Commercial at JMW advising clients on a wide range of commercial agreements. He joined JMW from national law firm Pinsent Masons in August 2014 having spent 12 years there.
Richard has experience of advising clients on a wide range of commercial matters including key long term supply agreements and outsourcing agreements assisting clients to maximise value from key relationships. He has advised clients on a variety of methods to get product and services to market including the establishment of strategic partnerships, the appointment of agents and distributors and the establishment of franchise networks. Richard also advises clients on the associated consumer issues including sales promotions and consumer protection legislation.
Richard regularly advises clients in relation to IT contracts including the procurement of hardware and development of software. He also advises clients in relation to the commercialisation and protection of their intellectual property.
Richard’s clients praise his ability to get to grips quickly with complex issues and his commercial approach combined with strong technical skills.
Recent experience includes: advising a leading retailer on the procurement of a new multi-channel IT platform; advising a sports governing body on its long term sponsorship and partnering agreement; advising a leading tool and plant rental company on a number of strategic long term agreements with key customers; and advising numerous leading sports people in relation to their image rights.
