Team from JMW run Royal Parks Half Marathon to raise funds for Group B Strep Support (GBSS).
24th September 2021 Clinical NegligenceOn 10 October 2021 Lucy Marlow and Caroline Chalk of JMW’s London office will be running the Royal Parks Half marathon in support of the charity Group B Strep Support (GBSS).
JMW are a legal partner of GBBS and are working with them to help raise awareness of group B Strep and achieve their goal of stopping group B Strep infections in babies.
Group B Strep is commonest cause of severe infection in newborns and meningitis in children under five years old in the UK. Sixty-six babies are diagnosed with group B Strep infection every month in the UK and the Republic of Ireland. Most make a full recovery but, tragically, of those 66, six suffer long term disabilities and four babies die.
Nicola Wainwright, a clinical negligence specialist in our London office, explained “as solicitors specialising in medical negligence we have seen the awful effects group B Strep can have and that is why I am so pleased that Lucy and Caroline volunteered to run the Royal Parks Half marathon to help fundraise for GBSS. These funds will help the charity to continue their vital work.
Caroline said: “13 miles is a big challenge for us, but it is for such a great cause I am sure that will keep us motivated“
