Partner Manchester Clinical Negligence

Steven is a partner in the clinical negligence department at JMW and has specialised in the field since qualifying as a solicitor in 2008. He has helped patients affected by many different types of medical negligence to challenge the mistakes that were made and secure compensation.

Appointed to the position of partner at JMW in 2019, Steven is ranked as a Next Generation Partner in the Legal 500 2021. The guide describes him as a superb example of a personable practitioner who readily commands the confidence of his disabled clients. Steven was previously ranked as a "Rising Star" in the 2020 edition, which described him as “highly rated”. 

Steven’s caseload is now primarily made up of spinal injury and adult and child brain injury claims. In 2020 he secured approximately £13 million in compensation for a teenager with severe cerebral palsy due to maternity errors. Steven has also previously obtained £1 million in compensation for a man who suffered a brain injury following a delay in diagnosis of a stroke. He is currently working to settle numerous multi-million-pound cerebral palsy claims arising from poor care during birth or the newborn period.

In 2019 Steven obtained £1 million in compensation for a patient left severely debilitated by negligent treatment of spinal injury cauda equina syndrome. He has previously settled a cauda equina case for £1.5 million.

Hailing from Gateshead, Steven completed a Law Degree at Manchester University and the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at the College of Law, Chester. He is a member of the training group for the British Association of Brain Injury and Complex Case Management.
