JMW on Hand to Offer Legal Assistance to Employees of Collapsed Broadcasting Support Services (BSS)

JMW’s experienced employment law team is ready to help Broadcasting Support Services (BSS) employees who have been affected following the firm’s collapse.

Broadcasting Support Services, which employs more than 100 people, is a Manchester-based call centre business that manages helplines for a number of charities, including Mind and Action Fraud. It is set to close on August 14th but administrators ReSolve Partners entered the premises on July 17th, and reports suggest calls to the firm are now going straight to a pre-recorded message.

The reasons behind the collapse remain unclear, but employees of Broadcasting Support Services should remember that regardless of the circumstances of an administration and subsequent redundancies, they have certain rights under UK employment law.

Employers must:

●     assist redundant workers in finding new roles;

●     consult employees on all action;

●     give notice;

●     pay redundancy pay, owed holiday pay and other payments depending on specific contract terms.

Depending on the outcome of the administration, employees may also be:

●     protected by TUPE regulations;

●     entitled to unpaid wages;

●     entitled to holiday pay;

●     entitled to statutory notice pay;

●     entitled to unpaid pension contributions;

●     able to claim for unfair dismissal.

Carl Moran, a partner in the employment team at JMW, commented: "The administration period is difficult for all involved, and it can be tricky for employees to find out where they stand at times like this - but that is where JMW can help.

"Seeking expert legal knowledge as soon as possible will help you understand your rights and the best way to proceed in your particular situation, helping you minimise the impact of your redundancy and claiming what you are owed."

If you are employed by Broadcasting Support Services, contact our expert team as soon as possible for assistance, straightforward advice and a jargon-free explanation of where you stand and what you are entitled to.
