JMW Solicitors Urging Carcraft Employees to Get in Touch For Legal Advice

JMW Solicitors LLP is offering its employment law services to those facing redundancy from Rochdale-based Carcraft as the used car supermarket has ceased trading, placing more than 500 employees out of work. The company has 10 sites nationwide and was sold in April  2014 after a loss of £14.6m the previous year.

The Manchester-based lawfirm is inviting employees to contact the employment law team for advice and representation following redundancy. The team are experts in looking at the circumstances of those who have been made redundant, including how their employers treated them during the consultation and dismissal process.

The second-hand car chain was the UK’s seventh-largest, selling more than 12,000 used vehicles a year, according to administrators Grant Thornton, who also reports that the group suffered from poor market reputation, lack of investment, a high cost base, expensive loan note financing and an insolvent balance sheet.

JMW has handled many redundancy cases and understands the importance behind employers following the stringent procedures and guidelines to treat all workers fairly, meaning we are well placed to provide comprehensive legal advice to all those involved.

Guidelines that must be followed by a company include:

  • ensuring all procedures are carried out fairly and in accordance with legislation;
  • providing a consultation period that complies with current UK laws;
  • being aware of responsibilities to help former employees find alternative employment, including what constitutes a fair selection procedure.

Carl Moran, a partner in the employment team at JMW, says:

“Our solicitors’ first priority with employees from Carcraft is to ensure that everyone has been treated fairly, as it is often the case that due to the immediacy of company collapses, employees’ rights are often ignored or compromised. We will work hard to keep employees’ rights protected and will provide guidance to recover the full redundancy payments to which they are entitled  during this distressing time.”

If you are facing redundancy or have already been made redundant from Carcraft, you should get in touch with JMW Solicitors as soon as possible. We have assisted many others who have unfortunately been made redundant and are not aware of the legal implications of redundancy. Call us today on 0845-241-1863 or email
