Employment law team welcome enquiries from Mach-Aire employees
The employment team at Manchester-based law firm JMW Solicitors LLP is welcoming enquiries from employees at Bolton-based manufacturer Mach-Aire, which has recently entered into administration. The company, which specialises in the production of equipment for controlled environments, has confirmed it has ceased trading, leading to the loss of all 70 jobs.
Members of staff are being urged to contact the employment law team at JMW to investigate the circumstances in which they were made redundant, looking into their treatment and represent them at tribunals, if necessary.
Mach-Aire designed, engineered, installed and carried out maintenance on controlled environment and airflow technology systems, such as safety cabinets and clean-room furniture. The company, which had a turnover of £8 million, had established a presence in the UK, and expanded its exports following a recent joint venture in China. Its clients spanned a variety of sectors including pharmaceuticals, healthcare, retail, manufacturing and education.
It is believed the administration was caused by recent losses on certain contracts, combined with cash flow problems. Joint administrators Tom MacLennan and Ben Woolrych, partners in FRP Advisory, have been brought in to seek a buyer for the business and its assets.
JMW aims to ensure that all the redundancies have been performed under the proper procedures, and we are dedicated to helping all those involved wherever possible. JMW is well placed to take on claims from former Mach-Aire employees after helping more than 200 former employees at Citylink.
When a company makes redundancies, it must ensure:
- That all processes are carried out fairly and are in accordance with existing statutory procedures
- That there is an appropriate consultation procedure in place that complies with current UK employment laws
- It is fully aware of what constitutes as a fair selection procedure, as well as its responsibilities regarding helping former employees find alternative employment
Ian Tranter, Partner said: “Our solicitors are dedicated to ensuring former employees can recover their rightful legal entitlement at a time when they may be facing uncertainty and increasing financial pressure.”
If any other employees at Mach-Aire would like to get in touch with JMW Solicitors, they should do so as soon as possible. Call us today on 0345 872 6666.
