Media Statement: Richardson-Ruhan
Judgment has been handed down today in one of the country’s largest ever divorce cases by the Honourable Mr Justice Mostyn with Manchester law firm JMW Solicitors representing the wife, Mrs Tania Richardson-Ruhan. This follows a final hearing which took place over the course of two weeks in October at the Royal Courts of Justice.
Michael Chapman, Head of Family law at JMW, representing Mrs Richardson-Ruhan, said:
“The Judgment today is a significant step forward in the divorce for Mrs Richardson-Ruhan.
The proceedings will continue into 2018, when the extent of Mrs Richardson-Ruhan’s settlement is decided. Today, the Court has made significant findings in Mrs Richardson-Ruhan’s favour, vindicating her in her lengthy pursuit of justice.”
He added: “Mrs Richardson-Ruhan does not wish to comment on the proceedings and we are unable to discuss specific aspects of the case as the proceedings are not yet concluded.
“The matter will come before the Court again in the New Year to decide the extent of Mrs Richardson-Ruhan’s entitlement. In these circumstances, we feel that it would be inappropriate to comment on the case whilst deliberations are ongoing.
“Mrs Richardson-Ruhan’s primary objectives have always remained the same – to arrive at a fair settlement with Mr Ruhan and to make appropriate provision for their children.
“Justice will continue to run its course and we are confident a fair financial settlement will be achieved at the conclusion of the financial remedy proceedings.
“While we acknowledge there is media interest in this matter, we request that our client’s privacy and that of her family are respected.”
The team acting for Mrs Richardson-Ruhan, included Head of Family at JMW Michael Chapman, Holly Tootill a Senior Associate with JMW and Sally Harrison QC and Abigail Bennett of St Johns Buildings Chambers.
