JMW’s PI team offers expert legal advice to food poisoning victims at Mexican Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya resort

Manchester-based law firm JMW Solicitors LLP has picked up on reports that many guests staying at the Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya Hotel and Spa in Mexico have been diagnosed with food poisoning as a result of their stay. The all-inclusive resort, which features a buffet restaurant and three free-form swimming pools, received a number of complaints in May of this year.

Reports and negative feedback on TripAdvisor suggests that complaints of sickness and diarrhoea have been caused by food poisoning from food prepared and served in the hotel. Holidaymakers are urged to contact JMW’s personal injury team for a full investigation into the circumstances of their food poisoning to see if a claim for compensation can be made.

JMW specialises in helping people who have suffered food poisoning due to an all inclusive holiday in Mexico, and will provide advice and representation throughout the claims process to those who have had their holiday ruined or been affected by this illness once they have returned home.

We will investigate to see if other guests have had similar experiences to back up claims, strengthening the chances of success.

Food poisoning is caused by eating contaminated food, and although not usually serious, can be distressing for those suffering from symptoms. These include:

  • nausea
  • vomiting
  • diarrhoea
  • stomach cramps
  • abdominal pain
  • lethargy
  • loss of appetite
  • fever
  • aching
  • muscles
  • chills

Michael Walker, head of JMW’s holiday claims team, said:

“A holiday is supposed to be a time to relax, spend time with family and friends and have some fun. However, if your hotel is failing to meet basic health and safety standards when it comes to food preparation and you fall ill, this enjoyable time can soon turn into a nightmare. The rest of your time away can be ruined, and, in some cases, you can return to the UK still affected.

“Our solicitors will work hard to get to the bottom of the reasons for your illness during your stay in Mexico and get you the compensation you deserve. We advise holidaymakers to collect any evidence they can, such as photographic proof of poor hygiene practices and medical reports, as this can help increase the chances of success in a case of this kind.”
