Bumper Year: JMW Solicitors recover over £48m in compensation for injury and medical negligence clients in 2013

JMW Solicitors’ personal injury and clinical negligence teams are celebrating a bumper year of work for clients, as they  revealed that they recovered over £48m in compensation in 2013.

The Manchester-based firm, which deals with all personal injury cases ranging from minor road traffic accidents to complex catastrophic injuries, recovered £17,727,451 for personal injury claimants in 2013.  The figure for clinical negligence claimants topped £30,341,008m, and saw the two departments net more than £48m for their clients.

Chris Sutton, partner and joint head of personal injury, said: “This is a brilliant figure for us, and more importantly, the clients that we serve.  Our team has continued to work incredibly hard in 2013 to secure compensation for those injured through accident or medical error.  Being able to provide our clients with their compensation award, and making that difference in someone’s life after an injury, is something I am very proud of.”

JMW’s personal injury team has also seen a number of its key cases reach settlement last year, including that of Fatemeh Panahzadeh, who suffered a catastrophic brain injury after being struck by a car outside her home in Cheadle Hulme.  The collision threw her into the air and onto the other side of the road, where she was hit by a second car.  As a result of the accident, Fatemeh has lost the ability to express herself or understand and process information, is confined to a wheelchair and requires 24 hour care.  JMW Solicitors’ Andrew Lilley was able to secure Fatemeh’s family £3.75m in compensation, in order to ensure that she is able to receive the lifelong care she requires.

Faramaz Vossoughi, Fatemeh’s husband, said: “Andrew and his team’s hard work will mean that I can try and make my wife a bit more comfortable now and try to make her happy.  I’m very grateful for everything he and the team at JMW have done for us.”

Chris continues: “Securing that compensation on behalf of clients is only part of the story for us.  Client testimonials and feedback are very important to us, as they help us to make sure we’re on the right track and continuing to provide the best possible help and support to our clients.  Mr Vossoughi’s comments on Andrew’s work are one of a number of very kind words we’ve received over the past year, with clients calling our work ‘superhuman’ and ‘phenomenal’.  Hearing that feedback and learning that our team has been effective is a great boon.”
