Head of JMW’s Will Disputes team, Alison Parry, has successfully resolved a dispute between siblings in respect of their deceased parent’s estate.
Ben Wilson, Partner in our Contentious Trusts and Probate team, recently acted for an adult child in a claim against his father’s Estate under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975.
The case involved a validity challenge to our clients’ late grandmother/great-grandmother’s will. The deceased left 3 wills, one made in 2014 leaving the residue estate to her son and to our clients by substitution; a will in 2015 made 12 days after the deceased’s son’s sudden death leaving the residuary estate to the deceased’s plumber (who later was her POA) and his wife; and a will made in 2016 leaving all the deceased’s estate to her plumber and his wife with a conditional legacy of £10,000 to one of our clients if they did not challenge the will.

Alison Parry of JMW’s Commercial Litigation team achieved an early resolution, at mediation, for a client whose father had left her out of his Will. Our client stood to inherit approximately £10,000 but with our advice and assistance she was able to secure the payment of £105,000.
