We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Cloud Services Engineer to join our IT department in our Head Office in Spinningfields, Manchester city centre.

The role

As a Cloud Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and services on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work closely with all areas of IT to ensure performance, compliance, security, and cost-efficiency of our cloud resources. You will manage and provide technical support for a full range of applications and systems, including those that are not cloud-based, but still hosted on our Azure environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and optimise the performance, availability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure and services.
  • Manage and automate cloud operations using tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and Azure Monitor.
  • Operate, maintain, and enhance the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure services, such as virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
  • Ensure compliance with cloud governance policies and best practices, such as identity and access management, resource tagging, cost management, and security standards.
  • Support the Technical Services Head and IT Director with cloud billing and reporting, as well as providing guidance on cloud cost optimisation strategies.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for all our applications and systems.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in cloud technologies and services.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Educated to Degree level in appropriate technology area (e.g. Computer Science, Network Administration)
  • Certifications in Microsoft Azure, such as Azure Administrator, Azure Network Engineer, or Azure AI Engineer, is a plus.
  • At least 2 years of experience in cloud engineering, on the Microsoft Azure platform.
  • Experience and understanding of desktop virtualisation technologies, including but not limited to, AVD, Citrix and Nerdio.
  • Expert in setting up and managing host pools, session hosts, user access, application layers, and FSLogix profiles.
  • Proficient in scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Power Automate, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and Azure Monitor.
  • Strong experience in vulnerability and patch management.
  • Extensive experience in managing and maintaining network firewalls and switches.
  • Experience in cloud security, compliance, and governance, such as identity and access management, resource tagging, cost management, and security standards.
  • Good working knowledge of cloud architecture, design, and implementation principles and practices.
  • Experience in cloud financial operations, such as cloud billing and reporting, and cloud cost optimisation strategies.
  • Experience working with Azure Foundry, Microsoft Copilot Studio and AI Agents would be beneficial.
  • Superb analytical, diagnostic, and troubleshooting skills.
  • The ability to make important decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Excellent time management and communication skills.
  • Good experience in technical project management.
  • Excellent working knowledge of technical services and infrastructure such as, but not limited to, servers, storage, switches etc.
  • Excellent working knowledge of IT continuity technology such as backup and resilience measures.
  • Previous experience in legal or similar professional services would be desirable but not essential.
