JMW have a new opportunity for an experienced Solicitor (c.2-5 PQE) to join the Intellectual Property department in our City of London office.

We provide a comprehensive range of IP services and advice, covering disputes, infringement, registration and strategy, commercialisation, and IP training.

This is a full time position. Hybrid working options are available.

Skills and Knowledge Required:

  • A minimum of 2 years' PQE at a recognised IP specialist firm or department.
  • An in-depth knowledge of UK and EU trademark law, design right law, patent law, copyright law, and breach of confidence.
  • An in-depth knowledge of all legal principles, theories and court procedures in relation to both soft and hard IP litigation.
  • Experience acting in cases at all levels of courts in England & Wales and at the UKIPO.
  • Non-contentious IP experience, such as advising on and filing trademark and design right applications, and drafting IP assignments/licences, is desired but not mandatory. 
  • The ability to work independently and progress cases with minimal supervision, including undertaking both client and matter management.
  • The ability to work to client objectives and maintain client relationships.
  • Commercial awareness, particularly in relation to running client matters in an efficient and commercially driven manner.
  • The ability to deal with new enquiries, where required, including making first contact with the enquiry, and drafting a quote for approval of a partner.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team, including by way of supervising, training and working with junior members of staff, and reporting to a supervising partner.
  • To assist with the team’s professional development, including by delivering know-how sessions to the IP team.
