Helen joined JMW Solicitors in September 2019. She is a Senior Associate within JMW’s Business Crime and Regulation team.

Successful acquittal on all counts of sexual assault – trial

Helen Kelsall successfully represented Mr M who was charged with three offences of historic sexual assault. He was at risk of an immediate custodial sentence of up to 9 years owing to the charges he faced.

The matter was highly sensitive and requited careful scrutiny of not just the Prosecution case but the personal background of the Defendant. Ms Kelsall prepared the case meticulously with the client in advance of his trial to ensure all bases were covered in relation to his evidence.

Following the four-day trial, the Jury had returned with their verdict. Mr M was found not guilty on all of the counts against him .

JMW have since heard from the client who has been extremely thankful for the advice and representation provided throughout his proceedings.
