TRAFFIC COMMISSIONER CHANGES FOR THE NORTH WEST AND SCOTLAND

The Office of the Traffic Commissioner has today announced the following changes:

  • Gerallt Evans, Traffic Commissioner for the North-West, will retire from his role after 4 years with effect from 31 January 2024. Mr Evans will take on the role of Deputy Traffic Commissioner from 1 February 2024 and the recruitment process for a new Traffic Commissioner for the North-West is underway.
  • Claire Gilmore, Traffic Commissioner for Scotland, will retire from her role after 5 years in post in May 2024.
  • The Secretary of State for Transport has appointed Kenneth Young as a new Deputy Traffic Commissioner. He will be based in Scotland.

JMW’s Commercial Road Transport team have unrivalled expertise representing operators, transport managers and professional drivers in hearings before the Traffic Commissioners across England, Scotland and Wales.  Whilst we have frequently appeared on the other side of the bench to both Gerallt and Claire when representing our clients, it has always been a pleasure to appear in their Tribunal room. We wish Claire well for her future endeavours and look forward to continuing to appear before Gerallt in his new role as Deputy Traffic Commissioner.
